Mobile App Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 10, 2024
Legal & Compliance Center:
This Mobile App Privacy Policy explains how May River Medicare Insurance (“May River Medicare Insurance,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our mobile applications, including the May River Medicare Insurance app available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store (the “Mobile Apps”). This Policy applies specifically to information collected through the Mobile Apps.
This Mobile App Privacy Policy supplements our main Website Privacy Policy. If there is any conflict between the two, this Mobile App Privacy Policy will govern how information collected through the Mobile Apps is handled.
1. Information We Collect Through the Mobile Apps
Information you provide directly:
- Full name
- Phone number
- Email address
- County, ZIP code, or state (for Medicare plan matching)
- Preferred contact method and appointment times
- Any information you type into forms within the app (for example, questions or notes for a licensed agent)
Health-related information you voluntarily provide:
- Current Medicare status (for example, “turning 65,” “already enrolled”)
- Current coverage type (such as Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medigap)
- Basic health-related details you choose to share to help compare Medicare options
We only request the minimum information needed to help you review available Medicare options. You can choose not to provide certain information, but that may limit some app features.
Information collected automatically by the Mobile Apps:
- Basic device information (for example, device model, operating system version)
- Anonymous usage information (for example, which screens are visited, basic interactions) if enabled by the platform
- Crash or error data (used to improve stability and performance)
We do not actively collect precise GPS location, contact lists, photos, or microphone data via the Mobile Apps.
2. How We Use Information Collected in the Mobile Apps
We may use information collected through the Mobile Apps to:
- Allow you to request Medicare information or quotes from within the app
- Help match you with Medicare options based on your county and ZIP code
- Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments with licensed agents
- Respond to questions and provide customer support
- Improve app performance, layout, and navigation
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
We do not use information from the Mobile Apps to create unrelated marketing profiles, nor do we sell your data to data brokers.
3. Embedded Web Content and Third-Party Services
The Mobile Apps may include embedded web content, such as in-app browser screens or appointment scheduling pages (for example, Calendly or similar tools).
When you use these embedded tools within the app:
- Those third-party services may place cookies or similar technologies to operate their features.
- They may collect information you submit directly on their pages (such as name, email, and selected appointment time).
- Data collected by those services is handled under their own privacy policies.
We do not authorize third-party tools to use your information for their own independent marketing unrelated to the services you request through May River Medicare Insurance.
4. App Permissions
The Mobile Apps are designed to operate with minimal device permissions. We do not request access to your contacts, photos, or microphone for normal app use.
Location: The app does not request or collect precise GPS location. When needed, you may voluntarily enter your ZIP code or county to help us identify plans available in your area.
Notifications (if enabled on your device): If the Mobile Apps later support push notifications and you choose to allow them, notifications will be used only for service-related purposes, such as reminders or important updates about your Medicare consultation. You will be able to control push notification permissions through your device settings.
5. How We Share Information From the Mobile Apps
We may share information collected through the Mobile Apps in the same ways described in our main Website Privacy Policy, including:
- With service providers and vendors who support our operations (for example, secure hosting, analytics, scheduling, and IT support)
- With licensed agents working with May River Medicare Insurance to respond to your requests
- With regulators or government authorities when required by law
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or sale
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share your mobile opt-in data or consent with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
6. Analytics and Performance
The Mobile Apps may collect limited, anonymous analytics information, such as screen views, basic usage patterns, and crash/error reports, to improve stability and user experience.
We do not use mobile analytics to track your activity across unrelated apps or websites, and we do not use analytics data to sell your information to third parties.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information processed by the Mobile Apps. This includes secure connections (such as HTTPS) and access controls for systems where data is stored.
However, no mobile app or transmission over the internet is completely secure. You use the Mobile Apps and provide information at your own risk.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Mobile Apps are intended for adults. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under 18 years of age through the Mobile Apps. If we become aware that information has been collected from a minor, we will delete it as soon as reasonably practicable.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your information, subject to legal retention requirements
- Withdraw consent where we rely on your consent to process data
To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in the “Contact Us” section below. For more information on your privacy rights, please also see our main Website Privacy Policy.
10. Data Retention
We retain information collected through the Mobile Apps for as long as necessary to provide the services you request, meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it where feasible.
11. Third-Party App Stores (Apple and Google)
Your use of the Mobile Apps is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of Apple (for iOS) and Google (for Android), including how they handle device-level data, crash reports, and app usage statistics. We do not control how Apple or Google process that information.
May River Medicare Insurance is responsible only for the Mobile Apps themselves and this Mobile App Privacy Policy, not for the practices of Apple, Google, or your mobile carrier.
12. Changes to This Mobile App Privacy Policy
We may update this Mobile App Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. If we make material changes to how we handle information collected through the Mobile Apps, we may notify you through the app, our website, or other appropriate means.
